Dr. Pilcher maintains an extremely active role in both the performance and the instruction of weight loss surgery. In addition to his role at New Dimension, Dr. Pilcher serves as Assistant Professor of Surgery for both the University of Texas at San Antonio as well as the Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences. Moreover, he is the Medical Director for the Weight Loss Surgery Program at Methodist Hospital where he also functions as the Chief of General Surgery. Dr. Pilcher completed both his M.D. and surgical residency at the University of Virginia, during which time he gained extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery, complex biliary surgery. surgical intensive care, and weight loss surgery. Following his education at the University of Virginia, Dr. Pilcher served Air Force Duty at Wilford Hall Medical Center, known as the Air Force's worldwide referral and medical training center. Dr. Pilcher is a member of several medical organizations including the Texas Medical Association, the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, and the Bexar County Medical Society. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
